Pierre Bonin, C.Dir., MBA
President and CEO

Pierre Bonin is President and Chief Executive Officer of Symetrix and Symetrix Realty Corporation. In this capacity, he is responsible for the overall business strategy and direction of the company.


Mr. Bonin began his career at Bell Canada, managing various departments and business sections including telecommunication design and provisioning. He was promoted to Vice-President of Finance and Administration in 1995 and played a strategic role in Bell’s transition from being a monopoly to becoming the competitive player it is today. He executed numerous M&A projects, including the spin-off of two Bell Canada units that were subsequently purchased by public companies. In 1997, as Vice-President of Information Technology, he designed and implemented some of Canada’s largest and most innovative systems.


In 2001, Mr. Bonin joined GSM carrier Microcell Telecommunications as Executive Vice-President and Chief Information Officer. He championed the development of IT systems to grow new customer services and advanced billing systems. He also led the introduction of numerous winning and disruptive products through the development of innovative market applications.

 

After the sale of Microcell to Rogers Communications (another Canadian GSM carrier), Mr. Bonin founded StrongKase Enterprises, a private investment fund. In 2005, he took over as President and CEO of one of StrongKase’s investments, Symetrix, a Data Center services company. Under his leadership, Symetrix has achieved spectacular growth and has begun expanding across Canada.


Mr. Bonin is a member of the Board of Directors of TelcoBridges, a telecom equipment manufacturer, and member of the advising committee of iMetrik. Recognized for his extensive knowledge and experience in Telecommunications, IT and Venture Capital, he is often invited to participate as a keynote speaker at various conferences and events.


Mr. Bonin graduated in Mathematics and Computer Science from the Université de Sherbrooke and subsequently received an MBA from HEC Montréal. He holds the designation of Chartered Director (C. Dir.) from the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés, Université Laval.
